Aragon AI Headshots Review: Pricing, Quality and an Alternative
Aragon AI is one of the best-known AI headshot generators. This review covers what you get on each Aragon plan, how much each headshot really costs, file sizes, refunds, privacy and what independent testers say about likeness, and how it compares with HeyAIHeadshot.
The short answer
- Aragon is a legitimate, popular paid tool. Its site shows 4.9 on Trustpilot and 4.8 on Google, and its higher plans deliver fast.
- The cheaper plans are small. Basic ($35) and Standard ($45) come with 1–2 outfits and backgrounds and files of 896 × 1088 px. All styles and larger files need the $75 Executive plan.
- You can't try it on your face first. There is no free preview of the paid packs, and the full refund only applies if you haven't downloaded your photos.
- Pick HeyAIHeadshot if you want to see 3 free previews of yourself before paying, a lower price per headshot, or a background changer for a photo you already have.
What one selfie gets you on HeyAIHeadshot
Aragon asks for a few selfies; HeyAIHeadshot needs one. These six headshots were all made from the single phone selfie on the left, without retouching afterwards. We don't show Aragon results here because we can't publish another company's customer photos; you can see their own examples on aragon.ai.

Aragon details are from aragon.ai/pricing, the Aragon homepage FAQ and its privacy page, checked October 9, 2026, when a "20% off" promotion was running (list prices $44, $56 and $94). Prices change often, so check before you buy.
What each Aragon headshot really costs
Pack prices are easier to compare per headshot. Aragon works out at 75 to 88 cents a photo at its current promotional prices. HeyAIHeadshot is 90 cents on the small Mini pack and 25 to 48 cents on the larger ones.
Price per photo isn't the whole story. Most people need one or two great headshots, not a hundred. What matters more is how many of the photos in a pack actually look like you. One long-term reviewer, Fritz.ai, suggests planning for 10–25% keepers from an Aragon set, well below the usable rate Aragon advertises. If that holds for you, 40 photos might give you four to ten you'd post, which still covers most needs. It's a good reason to see your own results before committing to a bigger pack, with any tool.
File size: what 896 × 1088 px is good for
Aragon's Basic and Standard files are 896 × 1088 px. That's plenty for screens: LinkedIn needs only 400 × 400 px, and Slack, Zoom and email signatures need less. Where it falls short is print and large displays.
A printed photo looks sharp at about 300 pixels per inch. At that density an 896 × 1088 px file prints at roughly 3 × 3.6 inches, fine for a badge or a business card but soft on a brochure, a conference banner or a full-page bio. Aragon's Executive files (1792 × 2176 px) and HeyAIHeadshot's paid files (about 1856 × 2304 px) both print cleanly at around 6 × 7.5 inches.
If you only need a LinkedIn photo or a profile picture, the smaller files are enough. If your headshot will go on a speaker page, a book jacket or anything printed, look at file size before price.
The differences that matter
Trying before you buy
With Aragon you pay first, upload your selfies and wait for the pack. If you don't like the results, Aragon offers a free redo, and a full refund as long as you haven't downloaded the photos; after a download, refunds are reviewed case by case. That's fair, but it means you have to decide on a refund without keeping any of the photos.
HeyAIHeadshot works the other way round. Every new account gets 3 HD previews of you, watermarked, with no credit card. You judge the likeness on your own face first and only pay if you like it. See the free AI headshot generator for exactly what's included.
Styles on the cheaper plans
This is the catch with Aragon's entry plans. Basic includes 1 outfit and 1 background, and Standard includes 2 of each, so 40 or 60 photos are many variations of one or two looks. Aragon advertises 20+ outfits overall, but you need Executive to use them all. On HeyAIHeadshot, Mini covers 2 styles, Starter 8, and Pro ($35) unlocks every outfit and background, so mixing a suit for LinkedIn with a casual look for other profiles costs less.
Speed
Both are fast. Aragon lists 45 minutes on Basic, 30 on Standard and 15 on Executive, and reviewers generally confirm it's one of the quicker tools. HeyAIHeadshot makes each headshot in about a minute, so your free previews appear while you wait, and a 120-photo Pro pack is ready in about 15 minutes.
Likeness and realism
Every AI headshot tool lives or dies on whether the photos look like you, and this is where reviews of Aragon are most mixed. Aragon's own customers rate it highly on Trustpilot. Independent testers are more cautious: Proshoot found it changed features the subject didn't ask to change, such as eyebrows and face proportions; Codingem noted some images look too smooth, with occasional odd smiles or mismatched hair; and AIHeadshots.org scores its face likeness 3.8 out of 5. Several of these sites sell competing tools, so treat them as signals, not proof.
HeyAIHeadshot is built around one rule: keep the person exactly as they are. The generator is told to keep your face shape, eyes, nose, skin tone, hair, glasses and age from your selfie, and you choose how much retouching you want (natural, polished or glam). It isn't perfect either, which is why we show you previews before you pay. Our guide to making AI headshots look realistic explains how to get the most faithful results from any tool.
Fixing a photo you already have
If you already like a photo of yourself and only want a cleaner backdrop, HeyAIHeadshot's background changer swaps the background and leaves you untouched. Aragon's pricing page doesn't list an equivalent for its headshot plans.
Teams
Aragon has a separate team product with consistent presets across employees, brand customization, a retention period you choose for team data, and integrations. HeyAIHeadshot offers team headshots with matching backgrounds and outfits, an admin dashboard and invoice billing from $15 per person. Large companies with procurement or integration needs should compare Aragon's and HeadshotPro's enterprise options; small teams usually just need matching photos at a fair price.
Privacy
Aragon says your photos are encrypted (AES-256) and that you can delete your account and data at any time. Its privacy page doesn't give a retention period for individual users, and it doesn't say clearly whether photos are used to train models. HeyAIHeadshot never stores the selfie you upload: it's sent to the AI model and not written to our servers. Free previews are deleted after 30 days, paid headshots stay until you delete them, and nothing is used to train AI models. Details are in our privacy policy.

Is Aragon AI worth it?
Aragon is worth it if you want a big, fast pack and are happy to buy Executive to get all the styles and larger files. If you're on a budget, need only a few great photos, or want to see yourself before paying, HeyAIHeadshot is the more flexible alternative.
Pick HeyAIHeadshot if
You want 3 free previews of your own face first, need several different looks without paying for a top plan, want a lower price per headshot, or need to change the background on a photo you already have.Pick Aragon if
You want 100 headshots delivered within about 15 minutes, you're buying the Executive plan anyway, or your company already uses Aragon's team product and you want to match its style.Still comparing? How to choose any AI headshot generator
- See your own face before paying. Sample galleries show the tool's best results on other people. Only a preview of you tells you about likeness.
- Count styles, not photos. Sixty variations of one outfit are less useful than ten photos in three different looks.
- Check the file size for where you'll use it. 400 px is enough for LinkedIn; a sharp 5 × 7 inch print needs about 1500 × 2100 px.
- Read the refund condition. "Full refund" often means "before you download".
- Read what happens to your selfie. Look for a clear retention period and a clear answer on model training.

Yes, on size: even the 896 × 1088 px files on the cheaper plans are well above LinkedIn's 400 × 400 px minimum. Pick a result that looks like you today. See our LinkedIn headshot guide for what works in the small circle.
What is the best Aragon AI alternative?
It depends on what you want to fix. For a free look at yourself first and a lower price per photo, HeyAIHeadshot. For large company rollouts, HeadshotPro. For larger files on every plan, BetterPic. We compare all of them in our best AI headshot generators review.
Can I use the same selfies for Aragon and HeyAIHeadshot?
Yes. A clear, recent, front-facing photo in even light works for both. HeyAIHeadshot only needs one, so upload your best one.
